Has security become a moving target for most companies? What is it that companies are most ill prepared to handle?
IT security is a moving target due to the exponential growth and value of corporate and personal data. Assigning a value to data as it comes into, resides within, and exits an organization is foundational to data security. Additionally, the fluid nature of data privacy regulations makes the job that much more difficult. Data grows, data moves, and not all data is created equal. Organizations that cannot define, discover, and classify their data assets cannot control them, and thus cannot comply with current privacy regulations or effectively protect themselves from harm.
Tell us about your Global Excellence Awards win. What new or upgraded product or service has your company recently introduced to the market?
We were thrilled to recently announce the release of Spirion Data Privacy Manager to the market. Our customers refer to it as their “Data Privacy and Security Engine.” We pioneered this solution based on what we have learned in the market, and that is the need to provide optimal performance and cross-platform enterprise scalability to protect ever-growing volumes of sensitive information across all data types and environments. It allows organizations to choose the most suitable protection for the data that matters the most, whether on-premise or in the private or public cloud. Data Privacy Manager safeguards critical information by using the most accurate discovery process to find all sensitive data and then persistently classifies data to manage its use.
By automatically contextualizing data, Spirion can help transform data security across the entire organization. Spirion Data Privacy Manager enables organizations to fully understand data within the context of their business so they can take control with minimal friction and appropriate visibility. We give organizations the ability to comply with the laws and regulations built to protect the personal data privacy of individuals across the globe.
How do your customers benefit from your company’s solutions? What advice would you give to CSOs?
Simply put, our customers have the unparalleled ability to shrink and control their sensitive data footprint on an ongoing basis. By automating that process and only maintaining what is required, data security and data privacy become a byproduct of proper data privacy management.
Where CSOs often fall short is assuming that privacy grade discovery and classification is simple and that they have the appropriate tools as part of a much bigger suite. The convergence of data privacy with data security is bringing the limitations of those tools to light. Our customers report that Spirion leads the industry with 98% discovery accuracy and the lowest rates of false-positives and negatives. We have spent years fine-tuning our solution against some of the largest data stores in the world; therefore, we find what others miss. That level of accuracy allows us to auto-classify documents, bringing instant visibility to data handlers and allowing tools like DLP to deliver on their promise. And, it will enable our customers to comply with the personal data collection, storage and utilization elements of CCPA and GDPR.
